Newsworthy Carnage

In a random violent attack on and around London Bridge last night, 7 people died and 48 injured were taken to hospital. There was headline coverage of this act of barbaric terrorism in the world press; Trump, the ignorant, stupid and dangerous POTUS, even used the tragedy to further his case for a muslim ban.

EVERY WEEK IN 2016, an average of 34 people were killed on roads in the United Kingdom and a further 483 were seriously injured. Every week this is not reported in the media. Every week we never give it a thought.

Both are examples of the price we pay to exercise our freedoms: freedom to live out our private and communal lives without overly-intrusive government control and surveillance; freedom to drive a lethal weapon whenever we wish.
